Edward Belin spent thirty-three years as a Music Educator until his retirement in 2022. He began his career as the Middle School Band Director in Wellsville, NY until moving to Hornell High School where he taught all grade levels of instrumental music in his twenty-seven year tenure.
During his time in Hornell, the Senior High bands received many gold and silver awards from the New York State School Music Association. Several of these awards were for Level Five or Six adjudications. In addition, he directed the Junior High Concert Band and the Intermediate School Sixth Grade Concert Band, both of whom also received silver awards from NYSSMA.
While directing the Marching Red Raiders, the group entered the New York State Field Band Conference. During their eight years of competition the MRR placed as high as eighth in the Small School 3 Class of the NYSFBC.
As an active member of the community, Mr. Belin has conducted the Wellsville Performing Arts Orchestra (a community orchestra) and is currently a conductor and percussion member of the Hornell Area Wind Ensemble (a community band). He has also played percussion and conducted numerous musical theatre productions for Olean Community Theatre and the Hornell Rotary Club.
Mr. Belin enjoys skiing and traveling with his wife, Judith, especially to visit their grandchildren in Bern, Switzerland. He also performs out regularly in the Finger Lakes/Hornell region with his friends, “The Bard Brothers”.
