Ed Belin has been teaching music for over three decades and has spent the last twenty-five years in the Hornell district. He recently moved from the Junior/Senior High School to the Intermediate level giving him the opportunity to work with all levels of instrumental music during his career.

During his time in Hornell, the senior high bands received many gold and silver awards from the New York State School Music Association. Several of these awards were for level five or six adjudications. Also, the Junior High band received back-to-back silver awards for level two performances.

During his time at the Senior High, the Marching Red Raiders became a member of the NYS Field Band Conference. During their eight years of competition the MRR placed as high as eighth in the Small School 3 Class of the NYSFBC.

In addition to HAWE, Mr. Belin has conducted the Wellsville Performing Arts Orchestra (a community orchestra.) He has also played percussion and conducted numerous musical theatre productions for Olean Community Theatre and the Hornell Rotary Club.

In June of 2022, he retired from teaching. The band is fortunate to have Mr. Belin occasionally on the podium as well as in the percussion section for the Hornell Area Wind Ensemble.

He and his wife, Judith, live in Wellsville and look forward to the time they can spend with their grandson and granddaughter!
